With regards to the Kanji study stuff, I highly recommend it if you can. It's extremely challenging (something you really can't do desultorily); but it's also very rewarding, and very fun!

Hi, Martin. My notification-daemon version is 0.3.7.90-1.svn3009.fc10 (x86_64, if it matters). The only thing I've notification-related thing I've changed recently is installing libnotify-devel as a build dependency for WebKit - but uninstalling that does seem to fix the issue. However, changing that GConf key as you suggest does fix it - the sexy-time bubbles are back! Thanks very much! :D

The bubbles theme switching is a bit crappy... I wonder, what is the version of notification-daemon you have? If it's lower than 0.4.x then setting /apps/notification-daemon/theme gconf key to nodoka should bring the nice bubbles back. If it's already 0.4.x I'll need to rebuild notification-daemon-engine-nodoka with corrected version check (like is done in rawhide)...

On the second part of your post, I so much envy you. I haven't got a chance yet to study kana and kanji properly, but I'd love to :-/
